Originally founded in 1994 as Cyberworks, we began working together before there was a Netscape much less an Internet Explorer. Our first sites were coded for Mosaic, AOL and Prodigy. We celebrated the birth of JAVA with Sun Microsystems (and we have the embroidered leather jackets to prove it) not to mention Animated Gifs, Frames, Shockwave, "Push," Streaming Media, Flash, DHTML, Wireless etc. etc. etc.

We worked with NASA and showed the world, quite literally, where we are all headed. We helped Prime Sports (now Fox Sports) to discover how the Internet can be used in promoting, delivering, and monetizing sports content. And we helped countless clients and many friends take their first steps online. We built a reputation as being both a tech shop and a creative studio, in other words a Web shop.

In 1998, Cyberworks was acquired by a publicly traded company. Our stock skyrocketed as we invested in promising dotcoms and became a full-fledged incubator. The Internet investment party was soon over, however, and in March of 2000 the team's paper fortunes vanished and on a day in early January of 2001 the business unit was dissolved.

Teneleven, Inc., was formed the next day with the commitment of getting back to reality and not getting too big to provide personal service for all our clients. Our first few years were slow as the market tried to recover and we passed on many questionable opportunities, so we did what any agency would do—we leased a sailboat. Through 2001 and early 2002 we worked a little and sailed a lot, but late in 2002 business began to surface and this time it was real projects with quality accounts. It was time to get back to work. We relish in the fact that we were a part of the initial Internet ride, owed in no small part to a little irrational exuberance.
